Living Learning Communities

Penn State Hazleton offers opportunities for students interested in living with others who share common interests and goals. Living Learning Communities are open to students who have an interest in one of the themes. Students interested in joining one of the available communities can contact the Housing and Food Service Office for more information. 

All LLCs below are open to all qualified students without regard to race, age, color, sex, sexual orientation or other protected class. Auxiliary and Business Services and Penn State Housing, Dining and Residence Life are committed to building a community of belonging for all.

Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) House

This living and learning community is designed for students in the Physical Therapy Assistants program. Students in this program spend a lot of time together, both in the residence halls and in the labs. This longstanding SLO has been successful for students who participate, thanks to support from both the Residence Life staff and Rose Petrilla, faculty member. Past programs have included service projects, blood drives, movies nights, and game nights.

Discover House

Discover House is a Living Learning Community designed to support students’ academic and personal self-discovery during their first-year experience. Discover offers programs about majors, minors, service learning and careers (to name just a few) designed to help you create your Penn State Hazleton experience.

STEM Society

STEM Society is a Living Learning Community designed for students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics related programs. Students are supported by Residence Life staff and faculty from four different majors who engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Past programs include cheesy science movies, star gazing, design challenges, and lunch with a professor.
