Living and Learning Communities (LLCs) are year-long programs for students who share similar interests, academic, and personal goals to grow—together. As a participant, you’ll live alongside your peers in a contiguous block of rooms within the residence hall and can participate in special academic and social opportunities developed by Penn State Altoona faculty and staff.
Students can apply for any of our LLCs via Microsoft Forms.

Global Engagement Community
The Global Engagement Community (GEC) LLC promotes a dynamic exchange of global and local perspectives at Penn State Altoona. GEC residents have access to interactive and intercultural learning opportunities and activities, both in Cedar Hall and through their participation in co-curricular programming offered through student affairs, global programs, the office of DEIB, and more. This programming includes both on and off campus experiences. Additionally, students can build meaningful intercultural peer relationships with both international and domestic students on the floor.

First Generation College Student
A first-generation student is a college student whose parents/guardians have not obtained a degree from a four-year college or university in the United States.
Being among the first can be a truly exciting – and challenging – time in your academic career. By joining this community in Maple Hall, you will have special access to interactive and supportive learning opportunities and activities both in the residence hall and through participation in co-curricular programming offered through student affairs, the student success center, the office of DEIB, and more. Join this community to celebrate being first!

Ally House

Members of this community have access to interactive and supportive learning opportunities and activities, both in the residence hall and through their participation in co-curricular programming offered through student affairs, the office of DEIB and more. This programming includes both on and off campus experiences that will help lead to student success both inside and outside of the classroom.
