LiveOn with us for 2025 Summer Session

LiveOn for 2025 summer session!

Summer is a great time to enjoy our beautiful campus and become acclimated to the University.

Housing options for 2025 summer session will be in East Halls with Food Services being provided by East Food District and Hub Dining

Incoming First-Year Students

First-year students admitted for summer session will automatically accept the Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contracts for both summer and the academic year (fall-spring semesters) during the process of accepting the offer of admission to Penn State through the MyPennState page. There are separate HFS Contracts for summer and academic year, so a student may indicate different roommate preferences for each if desired. If a student changes their enrolled semester AFTER accepting the offer, please contact the Housing Assignment Office to request a summer HFS Contract. HFS Contracts can be viewed in eLiving (under the "Contracts" icon, click "Summary") to verify. Students will be able to indicate housing and roommate preferences for both HFS Contracts before the modification deadline of noon May 15.

First-year students will be living on campus during Summer Session II. Summer room assignments are for double-occupancy rooms in designated residence halls. Students participating in the LEAP program will be assigned in close proximity with other members of their LEAP Pride. Room and board rates are listed below in the Summer Session II section; room and board charges will be added to the student's LionPATH account.

The majority of students will be assigned to a different room assignment for fall semester. Students will be able to utilize drop-and-go storage at the end of summer session. Drop-and-go storage provides the opportunity for students to drop off personal items in their fall room assignment before leaving campus at the end of summer, so they do not need to take everything home and bring everything back the following week. Details will be shared in early August.

Campus Meal Plan

On-campus residents will have the benefit and convenience of the Campus Meal Plan for summer. The HFS Contract will default to Level 1 of the Campus Meal Plan (there is only 1 level offered during the summer).

2025 summer rates will be posted in March. For 2024 summer, the Campus Meal Plan rate charged is $27.00 per day, and consists of a $14.05 base charge and $12.95 dining dollars. The total number of dining dollars deposited on a student's Penn State id+ Card to use to purchase meals is $12.95 x number of nights in the HFS Contract. Any remaining dining dollars at the end of summer will be transferred to the student's active Campus Meal Plan account for fall semester. If a student does not have an active Campus Meal Plan for fall semester, any remaining funds at the end of summer are forfeited.

Food Service operations for the summer will be available at East Food District and HUB Dining

Summer Room and Board Rates

Unlike the fall and spring semesters, summer offers a variety of session dates (Maymester, Summer Session I, Summer Session II, independent study, etc.) that overlap. Each student's need for housing may vary, but are usually within set parameters. To accommodate the different time periods in summer, room and board rates for summer housing are shown as a daily rate which is then calculated by the number of days a student requires housing.

All charges for room and board are sent to the student's LionPATH account for payment.

2025 summer rates will be posted in March; below are rates from 2024 summer for reference.
