Waitlist Instructions for On-Campus Housing at University Park

Overview

Waitlists are available for upper-class students interested in living on campus at University Park and who either were not eligible to participate in the LiveOn Housing Process, or just did not participate. Incoming first-year students are required to live on campus, and will not be eligible to utilize the Waitlist feature.

Once a student who adds their name to a Waitlist, this action implies that they are interested in living on campus for the specified academic term. When a Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contract when an offer is made to the student, the student is not obligated to accept the offer. However, once a student has accepted the HFS Contract, they are then legally-bound to living on campus.

  • Spring Semester: Students who are new to Penn State or those interested in moving on campus will be eligible to add their name to the On-Campus Housing Waitlist for spring semester, which will be available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) October 1.

  • Fall-Spring Academic Year: Students who are not eligible to participate in the LiveOn Housing Process can to add their name to the On-Campus Housing Waitlist for fall-spring, which will be available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) December 1.

    • Note: students who are eligible to participate in the LiveOn Housing Process should not add their name to the Waitlist, but participate in LiveOn Housing Process. Once Request Housing option is no longer available, then the student can add their name to the On-Campus Housing Waitlist

  • Housing Options Waitlists: Upper-class students who are interested in a different housing option, such as Eastview Terrace, Nittany Apartments, singles, suites, etc., can use the Housing Option Waitlist feature to be considered for reassignment. The Housing Option Waitlist is only available for students who have an accepted HFS Contract. Students are eligible to add their name to one Housing Option Waitlist, which will be available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) December 1. Students will be reassigned from a Waitlist only if a vacancy becomes available in that housing option. 

Instructions

Spring Semester

  • Waitlist is available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) October 1
  • Login to eLiving
  • Select Contracts > select Waitlist
  • Select University Park and Spring 
  • Click the checkbox for On-Campus Housing Waitlist
  • A student will receive a HFS Contract offer ONLY after the student has scheduled courses for spring semester at University Park
  • HFS Contract offers are made every Monday afternoon, starting mid- to late-November
  • HFS Contract offers will expire at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday 
  • Students will be eligible to self-select a room assignment for spring semester, and will receive notification from the Housing Assignment Office with detailed instructions and the timeline. If self-selection is not available, the Housing Assignment Office will process a room assignment and notify the student when it's available to view.

Fall-Spring Academic Year

  • Waitlist is available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) December 1
  • Login to eLiving
  • Select Contracts > select Waitlist
  • Select University Park and Fall-Spring 
  • Click the checkbox for On-Campus Housing Waitlist
  • HFS Contract offers are made every Monday afternoon, starting late-March, and will continue as space is available
  • HFS Contract offers will expire at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday 
  • Starting in May, a student will receive a HFS Contract offer ONLY after the student has scheduled courses for fall semester at University Park

Housing Options Waitlists

  • Waitlist is available starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) December 1
  • Login to eLiving
  • Select Contracts > select Waitlist
  • Select University Park and Fall-Spring 
  • Review the list of Housing Options available, then click the checkbox for your preferred Housing Option to be added to Waitlist
  • Reassignment may occur throughout spring semester and summer, up until the beginning of fall semester, if a vacancy becomes available
  • There is no guarantee that by adding their name to a Waitlist that a student will be reassigned to that housing option.
  • Housing Options Waitlists are only available to upper-class students who have accepted a HFS Contract offer
