2023 Winter Break - University Housing Closedown

Fall Semester has flown by, and it's almost time for winter break. 

Winter Break Closure

University Housing will CLOSE for fall semester at 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday December 16.

Late stays after 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16 are NOT permitted - all students must leave University Housing prior to this closing time. If you are not able to leave campus by 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday, you will need to make alternative arrangements until you can leave. 

Students who do not have a Break Access/Holiday Housing HFS Contract are expected to leave the buildings (you may leave your belongings in your room).

Please make your travel plans to and from State College with these dates in mind: 

  • University housing CLOSES at 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday December 16
  • University housing OPENS at 8:00 a.m. ET Saturday January 6

Early arrivals prior to Saturday January 6 are not permitted - building access will not operate until 8:00 a.m. January 6. Students who arrive on campus prior to January 6 will need to make alternative arrangements until University Housing opens.  

Students are requested to complete the Fall Departure Survey to assist the University with building closures for the break.

Winter Break Stays

Certain buildings remain open during the break periods. Reach out to the Housing Assignment Office to discuss what space is available for a permanent room assignment change. This will allow you to stay in your room during the two remaining closures. The cost of a Break Access/Holiday Housing HFS Contract is $1020, which will be billed to your LionPATH account ($510 is added to your fall account, and $510 will be added to your spring account). If the room you are currently assigned to is in a non-break building then you will have to move immediately and stay in that room for the remainder of the academic year. There will be no temporary housing for winter break.
